In the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSSB) has set to 500 in-service employees being forced to choose between their duty and their Government, who are among future aspirants for the JKAS-2024 Mains. The issue has prompted the aspirants to seek intervention from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Election Commission.

The examination, scheduled for March 26, 27, 28, 29, and April 2 and 3, clashes with the pre-election period, putting the careers of the aspirants at stake. It’s a dilemma that pits their loyalty to their jobs against their personal ambitions.

The candidates hope for a swift resolution that will allow them to fulfill their aspirations without hindrance. They suggest that either the Election Commission should instruct Heads of Departments and Drawing and Disbursing Officers to grant necessary leave or the J&K PSC should con-sider recalling the Mains.
