Job Opportunity: Junior Research Fellow at Govt. Degree College Baramulla

Govt. Degree College Baramulla, recognized as an ‘A’ grade institution by NAAC and noted for its potential for excellence, is announcing its latest job opening. The college has released Advertisement Notice No. GCB/DST SERB/24/CRB/614 dated 23-03-2024 for the recruitment of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF).

The selected JRF will work on a research project titled “Investigating climatic and anthropogenic impact on the groundwater quality of shallow aquifers along the flood plains of River Jhelum, Kashmir Himalaya,” which is funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST. The project is under the guidance of Dr. Aasimah Tanveer as the Principal Investigator along with Co-principal Investigators, Dr. Arshid Jehangir and Dr. Mohd. Muslim from the University of Kashmir.

Position Details:

  • Designation: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
  • Duration: Initially for one year, extendable up to two more years based on performance and funding.
  • Monthly Emoluments: ₹31,000/- plus 8% HRA for the first two years.
  • Location: Govt. Degree College Baramulla and University of Kashmir.

Eligibility Criteria:

Essential Qualification:

  1. PG in Environmental Science/Water Management.
  2. Qualified NET (National Eligibility Test) or any national level examination conducted by Central Govt. Departments and their agencies and institutions.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Working experience in the field of Groundwater/RSGIS.

Selection Process:

The candidate’s selection will be based on the merit, performance in the interview, and knowledge related to the work elements of the project. It’s noted that simply possessing the minimum qualifications does not guarantee selection.

Additional Information:

  • This position is temporary and co-terminus with the project.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
  • Interviews will preferably be conducted offline; however, an online interview could be considered upon the candidate’s request, providing justifiable reasons.
